Job summary

Job description
Role Overview

Polkemmet Primary School and nursery is situated within the village of Whitburn and serves the local area. The setting consists of am, pm and full day learners aged between two and five. The ELC provides spacious learning areas and there is a large outdoor and garden area. The setting is open 50 weeks per year, and staff work flexibly on a rota across the opening hours.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will bring a sound knowledge of early level play and development as well as a commitment to providing high quality learning experiences and interactions whilst effectively working as part of our nursery team to plan, evaluate and report on children's progress.

Responsibilities

Respond to the individual needs of each child, provide high quality interactions and learning and teaching experiences, plan, evaluate and report on children's progress.

Qualifications

Registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC.

Regulated Work and Safeguarding

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.

Employment Terms

36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, Fixed Term until 9 August 2026.
