Job description

EFL teachers are at the heart of what we do, delivering high‑quality, inclusive lessons in a multicultural setting. They help students become confident, equipped with 21st‑century communication skills, and promote a culture of respect and understanding. Through fun and engaging lessons, teachers inspire students to love learning while building fluency, accuracy, and effective communication.

The English Adventurers Programme is a two‑week course for students at all levels, from A1 to C1. Teachers guide students through interactive lessons, collaborative projects, roleplay, storytelling and real‑world excursions, helping them develop confidence for academic contexts, international exams and everyday conversation.

General Responsibilities
  • Prioritise the safeguarding and wellbeing of students.
  • Follow all Health and Safety guidelines and risk assessments.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, required in residential roles.
  • Ensure students do not breach school rules.
  • Interact with students in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Assist in emergencies, whether on duty or not.
  • Share reflections about your experiences over the summer.
  • Offer support during meals and break times, and assist with student sign‑ins when needed.
  • Help with student airport transfers, ensuring smooth arrivals and departures.
Teaching Duties
  • Acquaint yourself with the SBC syllabus, materials and resources during induction.
  • Deliver lessons using the SBC syllabus and suitable materials.
  • Cultivate a student‑centred learning environment that promotes 21st‑century skills.
  • Set assignments guided by the SBC syllabus.
  • Cater to individual needs, ensuring students reap the full benefits of their course.
  • Regularly review students' work, mark assignments thoughtfully and provide constructive feedback.
  • Handle administrative tasks: maintain class lists, record work, register students, prepare certificates and reports.
  • Ensure a positive classroom atmosphere and encourage all students to participate.
  • Attend morning meetings with the Director of Studies and other sessions as requested.
  • Join CPD (Continued Professional Development) workshops.
  • Plan for lesson observations, reflect upon them and attend feedback sessions with the Director of Studies.

Required Information
  • Provide details of two recent and relevant referees for assessment of suitability to work with children.
  • You will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (or equivalent if you live or have lived outside the UK).
  • You will state that you have no known reason why you cannot work with children.
  • Submit official identification and certificates for our records.

Remuneration

You will be paid a gross amount of £815 per week, paid weekly in arrears and subject to statutory deductions. This amount includes holiday pay at 12.07% of your basic weekly pay (£727.22), with the holiday pay element totalling £87.78.

Working Hours

A normal working week for teachers will consist of up to 45 hours across six working days.
