Job summary

A prestigious scientific publisher in the UK is seeking a motivated Editorial Assistant. This role offers hands-on experience across the entire publishing process and is ideal for a graduate with a biological or medical sciences degree. Responsibilities include managing submissions, coordinating journals, and supporting editorial work. Candidates should have strong attention to detail, IT skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. The position can be performed remotely with occasional office visits, making it a flexible opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day running of a suite of journals.
  • Process incoming submissions using manuscript tracking systems.
  • Act as the main point of contact for authors and reviewers.
  • Support the production and publication of several journals.
  • Track and process permission requests, rights, and copyright documentation.
  • Assist editors with reviewer invitations and follow-ups.

Thisrolewillprovidehands-onexperienceacrosstheentirepublishingprocess,withopportunitiestotakeonmoreresponsibilityinjournalcoordinationandeditorialwork.

Someofthekeyresponsibilitieswillinclude:

  • Assistingintheday-to-dayrunningofthishighlyacclaimedsuiteofjournals
  • Processingincomingsubmissionsusingthemanuscripttrackingsystems
  • Actingasthemainpointofcontactforauthorsandreviewers,addressingqueriesandmanagingcorrespondenceregardingsubmissions
  • Supportingtheproductionandpublicationofseveraljournalsandworkacrossmultipletitles
  • Trackandprocesspermissionrequests,rightsandcopyrightdocumentation
  • Assisteditorswithreviewerinvitations,follow-upsandresponsetracking

Wearelookingforaswitched-onindividualwithapassionforscience.Youwillbeeducatedtodegreelevelinabiological/medicalsciencesubject,andcapableofworkingbothindependentlyandaspartofateam.StrongattentiontodetailisessentialforthisroleasarestrongITskills(MSOffice),theabilitytomulti-taskandworktotightdeadlines.
