Overview

Co-Head, Non-Financial Risk Lead Support - Finance Division

Team Overview

As a senior leader within the Finance Risk & Assurance team at Morgan Stanley, you will jointly shape and direct non-financial risk management within the Finance division, with particular focus on the Global Corporate Controllers department. The role demands significant expertise in either operational risk management or Finance, reflecting an ability to provide strategic oversight across key functions. You will share responsibility for local senior risk partners supporting Finance teams worldwide. Core activities include oversight of Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Operational Risk Governance, and steering the evolution of divisional reporting, metrics, and risk monitoring frameworks. This position requires hands-on leadership in governance frameworks related to Business Continuity Planning, Information Security, Third Party Risk, and Fraud Risk, as well as the capacity to address complex challenges unique to these domains. Your influence will extend across core Finance functions, demanding robust knowledge of operational risk and control structures, regulatory requirements, and governance solutions. As Co-Head, you will partner with other divisional leaders, formulate comprehensive risk strategies, uphold standards, and ensure the implementation of best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and set direction for risk processes across GCC functions within Finance, including RCSA, business continuity, information security, and compliance initiatives.
  • Drive major risk initiatives leveraging your extensive background in Risk or Finance.
  • Oversee and guide other team members’ preparation of risk reports and provide expert insights to senior stakeholders and executive committees.
  • Supervise the analysis and reporting of risk incidents, interpret trends, and present actionable recommendations.
  • Oversee action planning and issue resolution within the Firm’s risk inventory, focusing on effective controls across GCC processes.
  • Proactively identify emerging non-financial risks and collaborate with senior management to develop advanced mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and continuously refine risk policies, procedures, and information security protocols.
  • Model the firm’s values and foster a culture of ownership and accountability.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in Financial Services, with a strong track record in risk management and/or Finance division processes and controls.
  • Superior analytical skills, with proven ability to communicate and present complex issues to senior audiences.
  • Advanced senior stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and mentoring high-performing senior team members.
  • Initiative, independent judgment, and exemplary time management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience of analytical tools such as Power BI or Alteryx or use of AI to optimise deliverables is advantageous.
  • A collaborative mindset with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Hold a relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA).
