Nursery Practitioner
Responsibilities
- Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children aged 2-5 years. The practitioner may work in the 2-3 room or the 3-5 room depending on the needs of the setting and staffing ratios.
- Work as part of a small team, implementing the curriculum and the daily routine of the setting.
- Act as a 'key person' and be assigned a group of key children to observe and plan for developmentally appropriate activities; plans should be added to the room's weekly planning for the children.
- Discuss any developmental concerns with the setting SENCO.
- Build good, trusting relationships with parents and carers to discuss development and provide daily feedback regarding their child.
- Read and understand all policies implemented by the setting, including health and safety policies.
- Be involved with the preparation and serving of snacks and possibly lunches.
- Tidy away and clean daily activities and prepare the setting for the next day; cleaning of setting and resources may be necessary, especially during illness outbreaks.
- Provide personal care such as nappy changing, changing of clothes, and assisting with washing hands/faces regularly throughout the day.
