Driver Assessor

£39,314 plus benefits (Work Level 6B)

5 days over 7, including some nights and weekends

We’re looking for a driver assessor to join the team at our West Thurrock depot, working with our driver colleagues to ensure we’re always operating legally and safely. You’ll be delivering engaging training to our driver colleagues, enhancing their skills and making sure they can maintain the highest possible standards in their role.

As a driver assessor, you’ll be responsible for delivering an annual site training plan; driving continuous improvement through innovative and thorough learning and assessment processes. What you’ll do
  • Deliver engaging, innovative, and effective learning sessions for our drivers
  • Make sure our drivers follow all legal and safety obligations
  • Support our Co-op fleet team in trialling future concepts and vehicles
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of drivers – carrying out assessments and making sure all appropriate checks are in place
  • Assist with the investigation of road traffic accidents, as required
  • Shadow drivers and provide observational feedback and training solutions, with an emphasis on coaching and on-the-job development
What you’ll bring
  • A current and clean LGV Class 1 license
  • Strong experience in a logistics and driving environment
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues
  • A solid understanding of the transport industry, and the relevant health and safety practices
  • The ability to influence people and deliver effective training sessions
  • Good IT skills, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
