A leading consultancy in the built environment is seeking a Director of Transport Planning to join their Cambridge team. This pivotal leadership role requires driving strategic direction and delivering high-quality transport solutions. Candidates should have a strong technical background, demonstrated success in project delivery, and experience managing client relationships. This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the growth of the transport planning business while providing flexible working arrangements and a supportive culture.
Stantec is seeking a Director of Transport Planning to join our multi‑disciplinary team in central Cambridge.
This is a pivotal leadership role, supporting the delivery of a wide range of development and infrastructure projects for both public and private sector clients.
As the senior lead for our Cambridge transport team, you will work closely with our planning, engineering, design and environmental specialists, acting as the external face of our business within the development market.
You will shape strategy, drive growth, and lead the delivery of high‑quality, innovative transport solutions.
If you are motivated by the opportunity to lead, grow and further develop our Transport Planning business in the East of England, we would love to hear from you. This is a key moment in our UK growth journey, offering genuine potential for further regional or national leadership opportunities.
Stantec is one of the UK’s leading consultancies in the built environment with ambitious plans for regional growth. With Cambridge experiencing significant expansion, we are investing in our Transport Planning capabilities, and this role will be central to that growth.
Our Cambridge office, located on Station Road, is home to a collaborative team that works closely with a wide range of technical disciplines. We have a strong track record across the region, including major projects such as Eddington, the Cambridge Biomedical Campus at Addenbrooke’s, Waterbeach Barracks and Airfield, and Alconbury Weald.

As Transport Planning Director, you will work with colleagues across our national network to expand our service offering, respond to evolving mobility requirements, and support clients on their journey to low‑carbon, technology‑enabled transport solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity to grow an established and respected business bringing your entrepreneurial leadership to the fore. You will be supported by a collaborative leadership team and play a key role in shaping our future direction.
You will be a recognised figure in the local market, bringing strong technical expertise, commercial acumen and experience in leading client engagement. You will have a proven track record of winning work, managing complex projects, and delivering high‑quality consultancy services.
Your strengths will include market insight, a collaborative working style, and the ability to build meaningful relationships that generate new opportunities. You will have experience working with public and/or private sector clients, ideally within the land development sphere in the East of England.
Most importantly, you will bring the ambition, passion and leadership required to grow our team, expand our project portfolio and drive our reputation as a leader in innovative, technology‑driven transport planning.
