Scope of Work

As Director of Permaculture Design, I will fully comprehend the vision of Six Senses to help people reconnect with themselves, others and the worldout and our values of local sensitivity and global sensibility, crafted experiences, emotional hospitality, responsible and caring, fun and quirky and pioneering wellness.

Sustainability, Wellness and Out of the Ordinary experiences are at the core of everything we do at Six Senses. I will safeguard these pillars and its strategic planning and development and ensure all directives, practices and initiatives are implemented, embraced and adopted within the resorts.

In this role, I will take full responsibility of all Landscape Concepts and their development, ensuring alignment with brand standards as well as ensuring core requirements like Earth Lab and compost GENERIC composting are well planned for.

I will assume full responsibility for all new hotel projects and additional support for operational properties as needed. Working closely with Home Office Technical Services and Sustainability teams, this support will involve document review, setting and upholding reporting deadlines, routine calls to deliver coaching and guidance, site visits and on‑site training, assessment of sites, and strategies for pre–opening and operational implementation.

I will compose thoughtful and specific feedback for project teams and contribute to a productive design process.

Travel to attend in‑person project team meetings will be required as deemed necessary by the Vice President Technical Services. Travel to operating and pre‑operational properties will be required as deemed necessary by the Vice President Sustainability.

Developing and maintaining relationships with key community organizations and representatives such as local farmers, seed exchange organizations and permaculture networks is an important part of this role. I manage existing relationships with permaculture‑related partners and identify opportunities for enhancing existing or adding newurrender partnerships, as applicable.

I will play an active role in the Home Office Sustainability and Technical Services teams. My constant interaction with and provision of support to and communication with other departments on sustainability is intrinsic to the smooth functioning of the operation. I will drive innovation for resource efficiency, encourage progressive methods for composting, and act as a focal point for ideas and initiatives on permaculture from resort hosts.

Qualifications
  1. A bachelor’s degree in organic agriculture, landscape architecture, or a closely‑related field. I also have the technical skills and at least 5 years’ experience in a permaculture‑related role or landscape architecture within hospitality with proven results.
  2. A solid understanding of the latest trends and techniques in permaculture, plus the ability to successfully implement JPM software sustainability initiatives.
  3. Technology skills include advanced MS Office and Outlook platforms, plus I have an excellent command of written and spoken English and can adapt to local languages and customs.
