Job Description Summary

Influences and drives statistical strategy/innovation at an advanced expert level, participating in cross-functional collaboration and decision-making across multiple programs, indications, therapeutic, and disease areas within clinical development and/or medical affairs. Responsible for leading and integrating input from various quantitative scientists, impacting clinical development and health authority interactions. Represents the function at internal and external decision boards, mentors other statisticians, and provides strategic, technical, operational, and scientific leadership and solutions.

CDS - Supports Head CDS in setting standards and automation strategy across Novartis. Manages global teams responsible for data standards and automation objectives, ensuring quality, scalability, and compliance with regulatory standards. Oversees KPIs, policies, and processes to deliver ROI across standards and automation landscapes.

The Role:

We seek a highly skilled Director of Biostatistics to influence and drive statistical strategy and innovation, participating in cross-functional collaboration and decision-making for programs across clinical development and medical affairs. You will lead and integrate input from quantitative scientists, impacting clinical development, health authority interactions, and strategic decisions. You will represent Biostatistics at decision boards, mentor statisticians, and provide leadership and solutions.

May serve as:

• Global Program Biostatistics Head for mid to high complexity projects
• Lead Statistician for multiple projects

Key requirements:

• Expert contribution to strategy in design, analysis, interpretation, reporting, and negotiations with health authorities
• Strategic input into drug development projects, including development and regulatory strategies
• Lead collaborations within global teams to drive quantitative decision-making
• Facilitate project transitions and propose innovative designs
• Manage project activities and resources effectively
• Represent Biostatistics at decision boards and committees
• Contribute to initiatives at global and external levels

Your Experience:

• MS in Statistics or equivalent with 12+ years or PhD with 8+ years
• Fluent in English with strong communication skills
• Proven decision influence and leadership in statistical strategies
• Expertise in statistical areas like exposure-response, Bayesian methods, high-dimensional data, innovative designs
• Successful implementation of novel methods in drug development
• Extensive knowledge of drug development and guidelines
• Strong understanding of at least one disease area (Oncology, Immunology, etc.)
• Leadership skills with experience mentoring teams
