Job summary

Job description

Full time 37.5 hours per week or Part time considered. Permanent post

To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality radiographic services across the general radiology department, and Interventional Radiology.

To take part in the provision of a high quality, timely and efficient diagnostic radiography service to patients of Bolton Hospitals NHS Trust.

To work independently or part of a team and carry out or assist with a comprehensive range of diagnostic radiographic procedures.

To take part in the provision of the emergency Radiology service within the general and CDC departments, including Bolton One as required by the Trust.

To participate in Continuing Professional Development, supervise and assist with the development of radiographers, student radiographers and other support staff.

To assure good communications between patients, staff and colleagues are maintained.

Main duties of the job
  • To use relevant knowledge, training and experience to produce high quality images for a full range of general diagnostic imaging procedures, covering daytime, evening, night-time and weekend shifts.
  • To carry out or assist with a range of fluoroscopic diagnostic imaging procedures either in the department or in theatres.
  • To prioritise own workload and the workload of others, and organise and perform own work effectively and efficiently.
  • To communicate with patients, relatives, carers, and other health care professionals to ensure patients are well prepared for the examinations they undergo. This will include the providing and receiving of complex and sensitive clinical information, and the explaining of procedures and examinations.
  • To record all relevant information relating to patient attendances. This will include input of data into relevant computer systems, including CRIS, and any other media or systems as appropriate.
  • To participate in audit of practice as per Clinical Governance requirements on a regular basis.
  • To participate in the Departmental Red Dot scheme, given to A/E, to aid the prompt diagnosis and reduce the risks associated with the interpretation of radiographs.
  • To implement departmental policies, and propose changes to practice where necessary.
  • To ensure the highest standards of patient care are maintained at all times.
  • To be accountable for own actions and to work within Codes of Practice.
