Within IDG the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) team ensures reliable secure and high‑performing IT systems and networks supporting teaching research and administration across campus.

Overview

Join our Cloud & Hosting team and kick‑start your career in IT! You’ll work alongside experienced Cloud Engineers gaining hands‑on experience in managing and supporting virtualised server environments and Cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities
  • Provisioning and maintaining virtual resources using VMware and other hosting technologies.
  • Supporting Microsoft Azure administration and resource management.
  • Resolving hosting‑related support incidents and service requests.
  • Monitoring system performance capacity and alerts across Cloud and on‑prem environments.
  • Assisting with operating system patching and updates.
  • Contributing to planned upgrade and refresh programmes for hosting platforms.
  • Maintaining documentation and following operational procedures.

You’ll also complete structured training leading to a Level 4 DevOps Engineer qualification.

  • Demonstrable IT skills gained through a formal role, education or hobby.

Entry requirements
  • A Level in STEM subject or
  • BTEC Diploma in STEM subject or
  • Level 3 IT apprenticeship

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
