Development Management Engineer - Highways & Development Planning

Are you a skilled highways engineer with a passion for development planning, technical assurance, and stakeholder engagement? We're representing a well-established highways services provider currently looking to expand their Development Management team within a long-term, local authority highways contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the technical review and delivery of developer-led highway schemes, ensuring compliance with national standards and local planning conditions. Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Highway Authority in reviewing planning applications and development proposals
  • Provide technical approval for highway designs submitted by developers and consultants
  • Ensure schemes meet planning conditions, safety standards, and legal obligations
  • Liaise with internal design teams, planning authorities, developers, and contractors
  • Chair and attend meetings, respond to site and design queries, and guide projects from planning to completion
Requirements
  • Degree, HNC or equivalent experience in Civil or Highways Engineering (essential)
  • Solid knowledge of the design and delivery processes for highway works associated with new developments
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation including the Highways Act 1980 and CDM 2015
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
