We are looking for a Development Coordinator

Salary: £34,000 - £39,000 pro rata

Location: Hammersmith Head Office

Hours: 21 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

This post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

We recognise that many working women have commitments outside of work, so we’re open to discuss flexible working options and solutions that suit you, and still suit the needs of the business. Please indicate in your supporting statement if you’d like to discuss flexible working options with the Hiring Manager, should they contact you regarding your application.

About us

Advance Charity is a well-respected, award-winning, and innovative women-only organisation, established in 1998, providing emotional and practical support to women experiencing domestic abuse, and supporting women with short-term sentences to reduce offending.

About the role

As the Development Coordinator you will support statutory funding and contract management across Advance’s commissioned services, with oversight by the Development Manager and support from the Development Officer. Working closely with Advance’s Services, People, Finance, Evidence & Insights teams and lived experience service users, the postholder oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of statutory opportunities: holding responsibility for horizon scanning, coordinating tenders, and writing compliant submissions – and liaising with colleagues on mobilisation, contract performance, variations and recommissioning – ensuring high‑quality bid submissions and well‑coordinated contractual oversight.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Horizon Scanning & Pipeline Management: Monitor statutory funding opportunities (local authority, central government), track portals, publish updates, and brief leadership on go/no-go decisions.
  • Bid Coordination & Submission: Under the guidance of the Development Manager, lead the coordination of well‑developed statutory bids. Gather inputs from internal teams and lived experience voices, assess risks and organisational implications, ensure due diligence, develop compelling responses, design budgets, and manage timely submission.
  • Contract Management Support: Assist in coordinating contract management frameworks through Advance’s quarterly Mid-Quarter Review forums, covering KPIs, outputs/outcomes, quality standards, safeguarding, and incident reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Support stakeholder and contract management, attending meetings and events as required to maintain strong relationships.
  • Compliance & Financial Monitoring: Work with the Implementation Manager, Services, and Finance teams to ensure contractual compliance; monitor budgets, invoices, and payment schedules; and support sub‑contractor requirements.
  • Commissioning & Recommissioning Planning: Develop timelines for commissioning and recommissioning activity, convene stakeholder engagement, and develop consortia bids where relevant.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-proposal reviews, update templates, and lead on guidance and training for colleagues involved in commissioning to embed best practice.
About You
  • Be educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience, with hands‑on involvement in coordinating and contributing to high-value statutory tenders and contract negotiations.
  • Have experience working closely with commissioners and multi‑agency partners, with a strong understanding of public procurement frameworks and contract compliance.
  • Demonstrate excellent written skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information into clear, compelling tender responses, proposals and reports.
  • Be highly organised and solutions-focused, able to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure, with strong attention to detail and confidence handling confidential information.
  • Be committed to Advance’s values and ethos, with a clear understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in the delivery of statutory services.
Please note

Any offer of employment will be made subject to references and confirmation of the right to work in the UK, and satisfactory enhanced DBS check. This role is also subject to Police Vetting.
