About the Role

This exciting, full-time Design Technology Technician position, starting as soon as possible, offers a great opportunity to make a real difference to wonderful young people in the Bradford area. The technician will be crucial in supporting the delivery of a stimulating and ambitious Design Technology curriculum. The role involves managing resources, preparing materials, and ensuring a safe and productive working environment for students aged 11-16. This is a key support role for a candidate who is passionate about education and has the technical expertise to maintain high standards of teaching and learning in the department.

Requirements
  • Good qualifications in Maths and English (grade 4 or above at GCSE or equivalent).
  • Experience of working with children aged 11-16 in an educational setting.
  • Experience of preparation of food or textiles materials (as specified by the department's needs).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organise materials and resources for practical Design Technology lessons.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, tools, and machinery in the DT workshops.
  • Assist teaching staff with demonstrations and practical tasks during lessons.
  • Manage stock levels of materials, components, and tools, placing orders as needed.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by checking equipment and enforcing safety procedures.
  • Provide technical support across various DT specialisms, including food or textiles.
  • Assist with the production of teaching aids and display materials.
  • Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on departmental equipment.
  • Support the extra-curricular DT activities, clubs, and projects.
  • Liaise with external contractors or suppliers for equipment maintenance and material delivery.
