Overview

Our client, a leading Civil Engineering and Infrastructure specialist, is seeking a Design Project Manager to join their team in Euston.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and control the pre-construction phase of the project with the client side to secure further sustainable design and/or build contracts.
  • Project manage complex multi-disciplinary consultants across multiple design packages.
  • Identify and manage risk and opportunity.
  • Implement commercial and technical change control processes.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with project deliverables with internal and external assurance, governance, and review processes, including the production of relevant deliverables.
  • Develop, maintain, and meet pre-construction budgets and programmes.
  • Update and submit progress reports and dashboards with detailed narrative for the client and stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with internal and external technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders, and design coordinators.
  • Co-ordinate and manage site investigations and surveys.
  • Ensure production and implementation of Project Plans, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Identify and manage early construction planning activities (e.g., procurement, consents, design).
  • Manage inputs from other internal disciplines and teams (e.g., HSEQ, customer).
  • Consent and Interface management.
  • Working with client land agents Design.
  • Take ownership and accountability for engineering solutions and designs.
  • Produce design plans and briefs.
  • Evaluate designs and solutions. Lead internal and external design reviews.
  • Manage the delivery of designs that meet project objectives, and comply with client, statutory and industry standards, regulations, and specifications.
  • Ensure that safety, buildability, and environmental best practice is achieved through design.
Experience Required
  • Experienced in design and pre-construction management involving drainage and multi-utility packages within large civil engineering/infrastructure schemes, up to 5m in value.
  • Experience in large diameter water infrastructure.
  • Experience in management and coordinating complex design.
  • Adeptness in delivering high level compliance and assurance across all aspects of the project.
  • Expert in developing and cultivating a collaborative working relationships with client and stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational and communication qualities to manage engineering team of 2-4 people in terms of project outputs as well as team and individual development.
  • Adeptness in administering NEC 3 Option A, B, C and E type contracts and a proficient commercial acumen.
  • Construction project. Including Quality Assurance and Post Construction Work Package Plans and pre-construction stages.
  • Familiarity in managing design through Open Building Design and ProjectWise.
  • Construction/ Civil Engineering Degree or similar level academic qualification.

  • Previous experience in design/ commercial/ leading project team
  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme & Risk Management, and cost control including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting.
  • Ability to use Primavera P6 software or equivalent
