An established geotechnical and piling contractor is seeking a technically strong Design Estimating Engineer to join their regional team in the South Central area. This is a key role that blends technical design, estimating, and client engagement for a wide range of piling and foundation projects across the region.

You'll take a lead in developing cost-effective, technically robust solutions for tenders and live projects, working with clients from early enquiry through to order and post-award technical support. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a specialist team delivering innovative foundation schemes across the UK.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead and deliver design work for various piling techniques including bearing, tension, laterally loaded piles, and retaining structures.
  2. Prepare designs for both tender and contract stages, including post-award redesigns and site modifications.
  3. Estimate and prepare competitive tenders that maximise opportunity success.
  4. Evaluate incoming piling enquiries and assess technical suitability.
  5. Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve site or technical issues.
  6. Maintain design accountability through project handover and delivery.
  7. Support junior engineers through mentoring, development, and day-to-day guidance.
  8. Work collaboratively with regional teams to ensure bids align with company strategy and client expectations.
  9. Attend pre-tender meetings and client site visits as needed.
  10. Ensure all technical solutions comply with industry and company standards.
Requirements
  1. Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or similar (MSc and/or Chartered status desirable).
  2. Proven experience designing a variety of piling and ground improvement techniques (CFA, CHD, Tubular Steel, Precast Driven).
  3. Strong understanding of estimating processes, site redesign, and contract documentation.
  4. Confident in client interaction, technical negotiation, and cross-team collaboration.
  5. Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
  6. Based within a commutable distance to Derby, Swansea, or Bath.
