The business specialises in the design and manufacture of conveyor systems, bespoke one-off machinery and supporting fabrications. The company is seeking a capable Design Engineer who can take ownership of full projects and play a central role in the future of the business.

The Role

The Design Engineer will manage full projects from concept through to completion. This includes design work, customer communication, documentation, and supporting procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design conveyor systems and material handling equipment, including both full systems and one-off bespoke solutions.
  • Produce detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D SolidWorks models.
  • Create Bills of Materials and support procurement of materials and components.
  • Liaise directly with customers to understand requirements and provide design updates.
  • Manage complete projects, ensuring designs are accurate, manufacturable and delivered on time.
  • Support fabrication work by producing clear, accurate drawings for the welding and assembly teams.
  • Work closely with the small in-house team to ensure smooth project delivery and technical accuracy.
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Strong experience as a Design Engineer in machinery, material handling or conveyor systems.
  • Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in 3D SolidWorks (or ability to transition quickly).
  • Experience managing full design projects, including customer liaison.
  • Understanding of fabrication processes; prior exposure to weld/fabrication environments is beneficial.
