Job description

We are seeking a passionate Design and Technology Teacher to work in an Outstanding secondary school located in York. We are open to both early career teachers and experienced teachers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality DT lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and curiosity.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress.
  • Contribute to the development of the DT curriculum.
  • Maintain a safe and well‑organised workshop/classroom.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and CPD opportunities.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching Design and Technology at KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong subject knowledge across a range of DT disciplines (e.g., food tech, textiles, resistant materials, graphics).
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
