Job summary

A large healthcare provider in Wirral is seeking a Deputy Ward Manager to support the delivery of high standards of care in the Outpatient Department. The ideal candidate will be a 1st Level Registered Nurse with relevant clinical experience and skills in mentorship. Responsibilities include leading the team and participating in patient care. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dedicated healthcare team in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years post-registration experience with two years at Primary Nurse or equivalent.
  • Relevant diploma/degree should be completed within 12 months.

Responsibilities

Deputy Ward Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Manager - Band 6 to join a fantastic team in the Outpatient Department.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated individual to support the Ward Manager to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to all our patients.

You must be highly skilled with excellent clinical knowledge, demonstrating a clear understanding of the Trusts values and behaviours.

Main duties of the job
  • Designated to take regular charge of the Department in the absence of the Departmental manager.
  • Ensure appropriate use of financial and other resources supporting the Department manager in maintaining a balanced budget.
  • Act as an expert practitioner within the appropriate speciality, participating in direct patient care and demonstrating an advanced level and practice and knowledge.
  • Assist in creating a therapeutic environment which meets the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
  • Assist in promoting a critical, analytic approach to delivery of care and implementing changes to approve systems.
  • Participate in audits and implement change, based on audit outcomes.
  • Act as preceptor and mentor to junior staff.
  • Lead the team in the absence of the Ward or Department Manager.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection and appraisals of Junior staff.
