Job summary

A large healthcare provider in Wirral is seeking a Deputy Ward Manager to support the delivery of high standards of care in the Outpatient Department. The ideal candidate will be a 1st Level Registered Nurse with relevant clinical experience and skills in mentorship. Responsibilities include leading the team and participating in patient care. Qualifications

Deputy Ward Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Manager - Band 6 to join a fantastic team in the Outpatient Department.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated individual to support the Ward Manager to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to all our patients.

You must be highly skilled with excellent clinical knowledge, demonstrating a clear understanding of the Trusts values and behaviours.

Main duties of the job

• Designated to take regular charge of the Department in the absence of the Departmental manager.
• Ensure appropriate use of financial and other resources supporting the Department manager in maintaining a balanced budget.
• Act as an expert practitioner within the appropriate speciality, participating in direct patient care and demonstrating an advanced level and practice and knowledge.
• Assist in creating a therapeutic environment which meets the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
• Assist in promoting a critical, analytic approach to delivery of care and implementing changes to approve systems.
• Participate in audits and implement change, based on audit outcomes.
• Act as preceptor and mentor to junior staff.
• Lead the team in the absence of the Ward or Department Manager.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection and appraisals of Junior staff.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
