Deputy Sister Women's Outpatients

Band 6 Deputy Sister Women's Outpatients 30 hrs per week

An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Sister to join our team on Women's Outpatients Department at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.

We believe that happy, supported staff provide the highest standard of care. The successful candidate will benefit from working alongside supportive staff.

Women's Outpatients is a busy department, accepting emergency referrals from GP's, A&E and Patients. Within the department we have specialist clinics including, Hysteroscopy, Colposcopy, Early Pregnancy, Fertility and Gynae‑Oncology clinics amongst others.

Main duties of the job

Provision of a high standard of care, advice and support to all patients and their carers attending the woman's outpatient department. Promotion of patient's own knowledge of health care needs and treatment required, developing confidence in their ability to understand the healing process.

We currently provide outpatient care for all gynaecological conditions including termination of pregnancy. We see both clinic patients and those referred by their general practitioner or A&E as emergency referrals.

As a Deputy Sister within Women's Outpatients Department, you will be working in Hysteroscopy, Colposcopy, Early Pregnancy, Termination of Pregnancy, Fertility and General Gynaecology clinics. In addition, you will also care for emergency gynaecology patients, and provide a telephone advice and triage early pregnancy referrals.

The Deputy Sister also assists in -

  • Day to day running of the department in the absence of the Band 7 Sister
