Deputy SENCO - Full Time | Kings Norton, Birmingham

Immediate Start - January Start Available | Fixed Term until 17th July 2026

Salary: £143.59 - £184.62 per day

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy SENCO to join a fantastic school in Kings Norton, Birmingham. This full‑time, temporary position will begin ASAP to allow for a smooth handover, although we are happy to hold off until January 2026 for the right candidate. The role will run until 17th July 2026, offering a unique opportunity for a long‑term commitment with the potential for impact within the school's SEN provision.

As Deputy SENCO, you will work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to support students with special educational needs and ensure that they have the appropriate resources, support, and interventions to succeed. You will play a key role in promoting an inclusive learning environment and working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the SENCO in the day‑to‑day management of the SEN department
  • Help implement tailored education plans for students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback on interventions
  • Work with teaching staff to provide training on SEN best practices
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents and external agencies
  • Assist with the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for students with SEND
Ideal Candidate
  • A strong understanding of SEND provision and best practices
  • Experience in supporting children with special educational needs in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant legislation
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive approach to supporting students
  • Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable
