Overview

The Northamptonshire Centre for Oncology would like to hear from Radiographers with experience at Band 7 level or above in pre-treatment who are looking to take on additional management responsibilities while retaining an active clinical role.

The successful candidate will support the department as part of the management team to ensure a safe and effective service is maintained across the department with primary responsibility for pre-treatment alongside management oversight for brachytherapy.

Equipment

Our equipment comprises a Siemens Somatom CT, Varian Brachytherapy unit and 3 Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators. We are undergoing an equipment replacement programme with the first replacement linear accelerator, a Varian TrueBeam Hypersight with Brainlab SGRT currently being installed.

CPD and Development

The department provides a supportive environment to actively encourage staff in their CPD activities and role development.

Responsibilities
  • To act in accordance with the Radiographers Professional Code of Conduct at all times, HCPC standards also need to be met to ensure registration is maintained.
  • Maintain portfolio of CPD evidence as required to meet HCPC standards.
  • To ensure requirements of IR(ME)R 2017 and Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR17) are met.
  • To comply with all policies and procedures with the departmental Quality System, providing input to updating documents as required.
  • To support the Radiotherapy Manager as a deputy but with a specialist interest in pre-treatment.
  • Supporting, training and supervising students and other radiographic staff within the assigned work area.
  • As a senior staff member it is essential to act as a role model, leading by example and ensuring junior members of the team also maintain high standards of conduct.
