Overview

Deputy General Manager, Malmaison, York. Malmaison is looking for a leader in the making who will understand that running a successful business isn’t just about exceeding brand standards or a strong P&L. We want someone who will look after the team and, by developing them, will deliver celebrity service. You will be 18 months (or less) from running your own hotel and keen to join a brand that will give you the opportunity to shine. Five of our current General Managers have been promoted from the Deputy General Manager position.

In this role you’re a real organizer, who loves leading and motivating your team. You will drive the brand strategy in all elements of the business and help set Malmaison apart from the competition as a preferred employer and destination to stay, eat and drink.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a strong, inspirational leader who motivates and develops the team to deliver exceptional service.
  • Drive brand strategy across all elements of the business and position Malmaison as a preferred employer and guest destination.
  • Know the local market and maximise revenue by overseeing the bigger picture while managing detail through department managers and teams.
  • Lead from the front and set the example; maintain a strong focus on Health & Safety and effective communication.
  • Utilise experience in managing large teams and apply sound knowledge of food and drink in a property of similar size (not a deal breaker if not present).
Qualifications
  • Experience managing large teams in a hotel or similar property.
  • Strong understanding of Food & Beverage operations in a property of comparable size (not mandatory).
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety practices and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to develop and progress toward running a Malmaison hotel within 18 months or less.
