Deputy Director of Strategy & Capital Programmes

Band 8D, Full Time, Permanent

The Deputy Director of Strategy and Capital Programmes is responsible for the Design and delivery of the Croydon System estate strategy, asset management function and the capital programme. This is a crucial leadership role in the delivery of the Estates capital programme and oversight of major strategic projects affecting the delivery across the Trust. As a facilitator and leader, the post holder will identify areas for opportunity, using internal data and strategic benchmarking to ensure we are focusing on the highest priority areas. The post holder must be professionally accountable for estates project governance and implementation of delegated Schemes within the Trust's capital programme to improve the environment for patients and staff.

The post holder will use their leadership skills to identify and unblock risks and issues, recognise interdependencies between Directorates and drive progress towards delivery. They will be sensitive to the issues and changing needs of the Trust. This role is crucial for creating and maintaining focus, enthusiasm and momentum on the key operational changes that will make the biggest difference to our patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is the specialist responsible for supporting the Programme Director (Estates Capital) and the Director of Estates and Facilities with long term strategic planning, preparing and managing the estates capital portfolio, ownership of the Asset Management function and responsible for the delivery of the estates capital programme at various stages from scoping to completion of the Business Case process ensuring alignment to the strategic principles of the strategy. To ensure that all cases are completed in an efficient and effective manner, within programme timeframes and to provide the highest possible standards of delivery within the resources allocated, ensuring statutory compliance.

The post holder is responsible for working with the Programme Director (Estates Capital) on the management of the capital programme from inception to completion ensuring the delivery of projects on time, within budget, to the required quality and which improve the patient's environment, including the project planning to deliver Business Case requirements and deliverables within overall programme timeframes. Compliance to programme governance and processes to ensure delivery within these parameters.
