Location: Greyhope School
Duration: Permanent, Part Time - 21 hours

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,285 per annum / £16.64 per hour))

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first FULL month's salary payment.

About the role: To support the leadership and management of the school/service, enabling the delivery of quality education through the appropriate involvement of the pupils, staff, parents, multi-disciplinary agencies and the community it serves. This will be done in accordance with the Authority's Strategic Plan, the school's/service's Development Plan, National Priorities, Local Improvement Objectives, in accordance with current legislation, and within national and local agreements.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification(s) / Certificates / Memberships etc. required:

Appropriate teaching qualification
Full GTC (Scotland) Registration in the appropriate subject/sector
PVG scheme membership

As a minimum, demonstrate skills and experience in:

Standard for Full Registration
Standard for Continued Professional Learning
Standard for Middle Level Leadership

Responsibilities

The post holder will deliver the following outcomes:

• Leadership
• Provide and promote leadership, good management and strategic direction in areas of work of the school
• Promote high expectations and standards through the provision of professional advice, reviewing professional needs and performance, and supporting continuous professional development of colleagues
• Take responsibility for aspects of curriculum development, learning and teaching and meeting learners' needs
• Take responsibility for aspects of improvement planning and quality assurance

Partnership Working

• Work in partnership with parents, other professionals, agencies and other schools

Maintaining Professional Standards

Meet and maintain the professional standards which are set by GTCS Code of Conduct and participate in the Scheme of Professional Update in accordance with the requirements set by GTCS
Where a class teaching commitment is included in the remit of a headteacher or depute headteacher, its extent will be determined by the council on the basis of an assessment of the management content of the post
