SP Industries is looking to hire a Depot Service Engineer (Centre of Excellence) based in Ipswich.

This is a key position within the Global Service Centre of Excellence (COE) team. Your place of work will be at the Ipswich facility and UK customer sites (70 / 30 split respectively) however international travel could be expected.

This role is highly dependent on the individuals ability to react to service requirements quickly and effectively and provide technical support to clients both remotely and on-site. The individual will be expected after training to have basic knowledge on aspects of the build and test processes of the complete range of SP products manufactured at the Ipswich facility eventually extending to other SP Scientific products too.

Customer support and focus is at the core of this job function and this role will help ensure customer downtime is minimised through the supply of spare components the repair and maintenance of customer equipment and in parallel some technical support.

Through continuous official and on job training the individual will be expected to diagnose system issues fault find and repair the complete range of SP products manufactured at the Ipswich facility and beyond. System installations commissioning and regular preventative maintenance are likely service support requirements.

Key tasks
  • Assembly and test of mechanical and electrical sub-systems and spare component assemblies in line with customer demand.
  • Testing of mechanical and electrical assemblies to ensure that products meet the quality standards.
  • Fault diagnosis and correction including the completion of evaluation and repair reports.
  • In process quality inspection / testing of material and products including maintaining our quality records for our QMS ISO 9001 accreditation.
  • Equipment installation and commissioning if required.
  • Preventative Maintenance and repair on ATS Scientific Products equipment.
  • Own the coordination of all Service equipment requiring calibration.
  • Own the housekeeping and 5S of the Service repair centre.
  • Provide feedback of all depot and field-based activities and customer communication.
  • When appropriate and required contribute to the creation and maintenance of Service documentation processes workflows and training content / programs.
  • Manage personal inventory as and when allocated.
  • Expected to participate and in some cases lead problem solving events related to Product and Service Delivery and Quality. Training in problem solving via the ABM program is a requirement.
  • Contribution to Kaizen events to ensure the department remains optimal and efficient.

Ideal Experience

  • Experience in mechanical assembly within a light engineering environment
  • Machine shop experience
  • Brazing and soldering skills.
