Job title: Degree Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Washington

Salary: Starting from £25,688 with annual progression through the scheme duration

What you’ll be doing
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are carried out safely by identifying and understanding process risks and implementing the necessary controls to ensure low risks to process
  • Work to identify problems with product performance; recommend solutions and process improvements.
  • Refine the manufacturing processes to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification and business priorities.
  • Plan and design methods to improve efficiency and product quality by utilizing Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and working as a member of a cross functional collaborative team.
  • Work to improve equipment availability and capability, process capability studies. Support the site CI plan and manage identified business improvement projects.
  • Manage and support capital acquisition, engineering proposals, and provide estimated costs to achieve operational improvements and financial benefits.
  • Liaise with Product & Process Engineering to develop and certify process control trilogy.
  • Produce technical specifications for new/replacement equipment, carry out factory acceptance and installed article tests, and carry out trials and commissioning on process equipment.
  • Liaise with the site Safety/COMAH team to develop and maintaining manufacturing High Hazard Safe Systems of Work, including, Fire & Explosion Risk Assessment, DSEAR and Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualification requirements

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4/A*-C which must include Maths & English & a Science/Technical Subject AND 1 of the following:

  • 3 A-levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above. 1 subject must be Maths and 1 subject must be in Engineering or a Science/Technical subject OR an equivalent level 3 vocational qualification (must be a STEM related subject that aligns to the scheme/area you are applying for and worth a minimum of 96 UCAS points)
