Job description

A Day Team Leader at SuperCare provides safety, stability, and reassurance for young people with complex learning disabilities and associated conditions/syndromes such as: ADHD, ASC, ASD, Autism, Epilepsy, Down Syndrome, Global Development Delay and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

You’ll support the team through challenging moments, helping everyone stay consistent, calm and focused on safety. You’ll be there to help children feel safe and cared for when they’re at their most vulnerable, while also setting a strong example and guiding less experienced colleagues.

What You’ll Do

No two days are the same in this home, however there are some strong routines. We look for adults in our homes to be able to provide both direct care and guidance to the team and support as below:

  • Lead day shifts and ensure consistent safeguarding practice.
  • Support with personal care and administer medication where required.
  • Encourage positive routines and participation in activities.
  • Supervise, mentor and support Day Coaches and Seniors.
  • Step in during incidents, modelling professionalism and safe practice for junior colleagues.
  • Maintain records and liaise with managers.
  • Have strong experience supporting young people with additional needs such as learning disabilities, autism, ADHD and global development delay.
  • Hold a Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Keep records and ensure clear handovers to night staff.
  • Respond quickly and safely to safeguarding concerns.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence to support emergencies or transport needs such as driving to activities or appointments.
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking leaders who can balance empathy with authority and have strong experience supporting young people with additional needs/syndromes in a residential setting:

  • Confident leading teams through complex situations.
  • Strong background supporting young people with additional needs such as learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, Global Delay Development, Epilepsy and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
  • You stay calm under pressure and emotionally steady when children cannot regulate themselves.
  • You understand how differences like sensory overload, communication barriers, impulsivity and disrupted sleep can affect children with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, ASD, ASC and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
  • With a trauma‑informed and attachment‑aware approach, you offer comfort, predictability and reassurance.
  • Able to reassure and guide less experienced staff.
  • Physically fit, alert, and dependable.
  • Must have Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • 3+ years working in children’s residential care, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
