A residential care provider in Eastbourne is seeking a Day Team Leader to support young people with severe learning disabilities. The role involves leading shifts, providing personal care, and using communication supports like PECS and Makaton. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in SEN or residential care and a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Care. This is a fulfilling position where compassion and structure are key.
You\'ll be leading a shift supporting young people with severe to profound learning disabilities. You will lead shifts, ensuring routines and care plans are followed with consistency, provide personal care and support with medication while maintaining dignity, and guide staff in responding calmly to behaviours such as spitting, biting, or smearing. You will use communication supports like PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables to reduce anxiety and build trust. You will act as a bridge between staff, families, schools, and external professionals, making sure children\'s needs are understood and met. You will also encourage reflection and resilience in the team, keeping morale strong even on challenging days.
A Day Team Leader at SuperCare provides both structure and compassion in a home where children live with autism, ADHD, severe learning disabilities, and complex communication needs. The children here thrive when their routines are clear, their communication is understood, and the adults around them stay calm and consistent. You\'ll be the one who helps hold the day together, guiding staff through challenges and celebrating small but important victories with the children. Every day you\'ll strike a balance between being hands-on with care and stepping back to ensure the team is confident and aligned. You\'ll be the point of stability others look to when things feel difficult, and the children will know you as someone who listens, cares, and always shows up. This home has proudly achieved \"Good\" in its first Ofsted rating and is working towards \"Outstanding\"!
