About this role

As Data Scientist you will be focussing on delivering new and improving existing machine learning applications for use by the customer services and fraud prevention function at Just Eat Takeaway.com. You will help improve our understanding of customer & partner behaviour, analyse fraudulent transactions and make recommendations that will fundamentally influence how we operate.

In this role, you will be collaborating with departments and functions across the whole company. You'll work on projects side by side with Data Scientists from other departments, other times you will collaborate directly with our business stakeholders - depending on what is needed to make a business impact. In this role you will also work with our ML engineering team to shape our Machine Learning platform, which enables us to perform advanced analytics in a streamlined manner across the company.

Location: Hybrid- 3 days a week from our London or Amsterdam office & 2 days working from home

These are some of the key components to the position:

  • Lead and deliver data science projects from start to finish, working closely with stakeholders to ensure a measurable business impact
  • Work hands on leveraging various ML methodologies to solve critical business challenges
  • Identify improvement opportunities across the data science landscape, proactively advise the team on this and take action as needed to prevent and fix critical problems across our ML solutions with the wider team
  • Consult with stakeholders on data and technical issues, providing guidance on technical implementation feasibility
  • Develop guidelines, and best practices and drive adoption throughout the data science community
  • Be an active participant in the community for all data scientists and data engineers

What will you bring to the team?

  • Experience working in a Data Science or related quantitative field
  • Experience applying statistical and machine learning algorithms to solve real-world problems in a scalable way in a production environment. E.g., forecasting, anomaly detection, classification, personalization, ranking, recommender systems, and dynamic pricing.
  • Fluency in SQL and experience with cloud data stores (BigQuery, Redshift, Cassandra) with the ability to write efficient queries.
  • Fluency in Python and able to confidently write elegant source code with minimal supervision
  • Confident in partnering with ML Engineers, Data Engineers, and DevOps to resolve blockers and push the code to production
  • Experience working in agile teams with feedback culture, code reviews, and version control
  • Delivering data-driven insights and outcomes clearly and communicating effectively with people of varying levels of data literacy and technical knowledge
  • Pipeline design and orchestration, with tools like Airflow, Google Cloud Build, AWS Step Functions or Argo, or generally full-stack model development would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with functional programming, TDD or CI/CD is beneficial but not required
