Data Protection Lead — Central ಆಡ}\u{a0}Game

Contract: 6 months

Rate: £650 per day (Inside IR35)

Location: Remote (UK-based) with occasional travel to London (approx. once per month)

Overview

We are working with a Central Government client seeking an experienced Data Protection Lead to support a high‑profile programme of work. The role is predominantly remote but requires candidates to be UK-based, with occasional travel to London (typically once per month).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and advise on data protection and privacy matters across programmes and projects
  • Embed Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles into systems, processes, and services
  • Produce, review, and assure Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Provide expert guidance on UK GDPR, Data Protection Act and relevant public sector standards
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and technical specialists
  • Support governance, risk management, and assurance activities related to data protection
  • Where applicable, advise on data protection considerations for AI and machine learning systems
Essential Experience
  • Proven experience in a Data Protection Lead / Senior Data Protection role
  • Strong hands‑on experience with DPIAs in complex environments
  • Deep understanding of UK GDPR, data protection legislation, and public sector compliance
  • Demonstrable experience embedding privacy by design in digital or data‑led programmes
  • Ability to engage confidently with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working within Central Government or wider public sector
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics systems, including associated privacy and ethical considerations
  • Experience supporting large‑scale digital transformation programmes

  • Contract deemed Inside IR35
  • Rate: £650 per day
