Job summary

An established healthcare provider in Brighton is looking for an experienced CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist to manage a caseload of young patients. You will provide evidence-based treatment, lead a multidisciplinary team, and participate in the on-call rota. The ideal candidate must be registered on the Specialist Register and possess MRCPsych or equivalent qualifications.

Job description
Overview

This is a part-time opportunity for an experienced CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist to join a supportive and experienced team at the Brighton and Hove Clinic, a specialist inpatient eating disorder service for children and young people aged 12-18 years. The successful candidate will provide evidence-based and focused treatment programs for young people, taking on the role of Responsible Clinician and participating in the on-call rota.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload as the Responsible Clinician (RC) of the ward
  • Participate in the assessment and management of children and young people referred to the service
  • Assess physical health and document findings within care notes and weekly multidisciplinary team (ICR) meetings
  • Ensure completion of professional reports as per timelines such as ICRs, CPA, and Tribunals
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act
  • Attend CETRs when needed
  • Provide leadership, supervision, reflection, and risk management to the multidisciplinary team
  • Participation in the CAMHS Consultant on-call rota
  • Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Uphold the principles of Clinical Governance and adhere to the organisation’s clinical governance requirements
  • Take part in an Annual Appraisal Programme, with development of Personal Development Plans focused on CPD
  • Adhere to all the organisation’s policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • Registered on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a licence to practice
  • Experience of CAMHS eating disorders desirable
  • Medically qualified with MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills

Qualifications
  • Registered on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a license to practice, experience of CAMHS eating disorders, medically qualified with MRCPsych or equivalent, excellent communication skills, and demonstrable leadership abilities.
