Overview: Cyber Security Engineer
Lookers Head Office - Fully Remote
Contract type: Permanent, Full time
Salary: Between £55,000-£65,000 Depending on Experience
Hours: Monday to Friday (plus periodic on-call support rota)
Here at Lookers, we are recruiting for a Cyber Security Engineer, with a fully remote approach and occasional travel to team meetings. Reporting to the IT Security Team Lead, this is an exciting and hands-on role responsible for all aspects of security across Lookers IT, including our dealerships and online presence.
Responsibilities
- Providing assurance that our new and existing services remain sufficiently secure, ensuring an outstanding retail experience and maintaining customer trust.
- Performing daily security operations tasks.
- Owning and addressing operational incidents, escalating as necessary.
- Continuously improving operational tasks for ongoing effectiveness.
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert for core security technology tools.
- Ensuring security tools and processes remain fit for purpose, including full lifecycle management.
- Training others within the team and the wider IT community on security tools and practices.
- Managing items on the team's backlog and roadmap.
- Delivering point solutions and assessing wider change initiatives for security compliance.
- Remediating known deficiencies and addressing outputs of penetration tests, purple teaming, risk, and audit findings.

- Anticipating impacts of plans across Lookers IT and managing time effectively to handle contingencies.
- Using resources efficiently and prioritizing tasks effectively under pressure.

- Building support for initiatives and ideas, and planning workload to avoid unnecessary stress.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar Cyber Security role.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft security tools (Defender, Sentinel, Intune).
- Solid understanding of core IT concepts, including IT Infrastructure and IT Service Management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to see the bigger picture.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and innovate using scripting/development where needed.
