Job description

Join a new Crisis Wellbeing Centre and help others find their way through tough times.

A new 24‑hour crisis support service is opening in Buntingford this January. The Crisis Centre will provide a safe, calm space for up to seven people at a time who are experiencing a mental health crisis — offering compassionate, short‑term support as an alternative to hospital admission.

We’re looking for empathetic, reliable, and motivated individuals to join the team as Crisis Wellbeing Coaches. You’ll provide practical and emotional support, help people build coping skills, and deliver structured wellbeing interventions — with full training and resources provided.

You’ll be part of a supportive, friendly team where kindness, respect, and growth are at the heart of the work. This is a rewarding role for those who want to make a tangible impact on people’s lives while developing their own skills and experience in mental health.

Your role:
  • Deliver one‑to‑one and group wellbeing sessions on topics such as stress, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support people to rebuild confidence, manage daily routines, and set personal recovery goals.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote hope and self‑determination.
  • Work alongside NHS colleagues who complete clinical assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to a safe, respectful environment.
About you:
  • Experience in support work, care, counselling, or other helping roles (lived experience also valued).
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Compassion, reliability, and a person‑centred approach.
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, sleep‑ins, and waking nights.
Shift Information and Additional Pay:

The basic salary is £24,920 per annum but you will have an opportunity to earn additional pay as below. The rota is being finalised and may change slightly, but currently includes four shift patterns which staff rotate through each week:

  • Morning Shift: 08:00am – 15:30pm
  • Day Shift: 08:30am – 20:30pm
  • Evening & Sleep‑In Shift: 14:30pm – 22:00pm (sleep‑in overnight)
  • Waking Night Shift: 20:30pm – 08:00am

Sleep‑in rate: approximately £75 per night (in addition to working hours). Waking night rate: £15 per hour (inclusive of working hours).

Additional Details:
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Location: Buntingford
  • Parking: on‑site parking available
