Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate level Credit Risk Analyst to join our Credit Risk Management team. This role is responsible for the review and assessment of credit applications for final approvals on our FI portfolio, mainly across the Emerging Markets, with ad-hoc coverage of corporates and real estate. The tasks will also involve ongoing management and reporting of the Bank's risk exposures and limits. This position entails close collaboration with other teams across 1st and 2nd LODs, requiring strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder's relationship and teamwork skills.

Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities

  • Review and recommend/decline/approve applications for credit across all products offered by the Bank.
  • Work in partnership with Risk operations to ensure effective end to end credit processes.
  • The role holder is expected to get familiarised with the internal credit risk frameworks within reasonable timeline and apply this to scrutinise the credit proposals in terms of compliance with approved policies and risk concentration limits.
  • Monitor Credit Risk exposures and report findings to Senior Management, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including other Risk teams, Finance, and Compliance to support BACB's Credit Risk objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Credit Risk management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to proactively adjust Credit Risk strategies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent credit risk skills with an in-depth understanding of relevant accounting, legal and regulatory issues in FIs, Corporates and Real Estate.
  • Strong attention to details, analytical and writing skills to deliver concise credit recommendations for final approvers.
  • Academic credentials in the field of Finance, Economics, or Business Administration, or other related field, ideally to the graduate level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a similar role, with experience in structuring and mitigating risk in complex transactions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Exposure to Emerging Markets in Africa and Middle East would be an added advantage.
  • Language skills would be an added advantage (French/Arabic).
