Credit Relationship Manager – Restructuring & Recoveries (Special Asset Management)

Location – remote role

Role Purpose
  • To manage high-risk relationships to achieve recovery for customers where possible, and to minimise credit losses for bank.
  • To manage credit facilities with the Business Banking team, so that we provide credit to suitable customers at fair levels of risk and reward.
  • To deputise for Senior Credit Relationship Manager as required.
Desired Experience
  • An extensive track record and experience of lending to small and medium sized enterprise. Good communication and IT skills combined with a genuine interest in people and the planet. A friendly persona and ‘can do’ attitude combined with an affinity to the Bank’s values.
  • You will have experience of dealing with UK business lending, including managing high-risk clients to recovery. Thorough knowledge and working experience of current legal practice, risk appraisal, and lending practice are essential. An understanding of underwriting of commercial loans and overdrafts is desirable.
  • The person in this role will have a detailed approach to information analysis and decision-making. The technical skills required to a high standard and an ability to display a commercial appreciation of customers’ needs, balanced against risk and return involved in existing lending positions.
  • Knowledge of current practise around Vulnerable Customers, Forbearance together with TCF principles.
Responsibilities
  • Act as Relationship Manager for a portfolio of customers – including those with a recovery plan or insolvency proceedings
  • Liaison by phone, letter and meeting with customers and their advisers at the borrower’s business or elsewhere as required
  • Ensure TCF principles are applied and implemented
  • Ensure fair customer outcomes are always a core part of the Special Asset Management strategy setting process and ongoing management.
  • Monitoring Special Asset Management portfolio to ensure TCF principles are applied
  • Application of Forbearance concessions as appropriate for VC customers and debt restructuring
  • Devise recovery, restructure and / or work out strategies and secure borrower agreement
  • Keep Senior Credit Relationship Manager informed of adverse developments during recovery action
  • Managing reputational risk for Bank during recovery action via collaboration with Market Communications and informing Senior Management as appropriate
  • Support Business Banking RM’s in pre-default cases, to either avoid a default situation or bring it swiftly under control
  • Conduct credit reviews of existing borrowing
  • Reporting the performance of the B&D loan portfolio, identifying adverse movements and excesses in the absence of the Senior Credit Relationship Manager
  • Manage the receipt of financial and operational data from borrowers and its analysis and recording in the operating system of the Bank
  • Deputise for Senior Credit Relationship Manager as required
  • Support the Credit Analysis function as volumes dictate to ensure SLAs are met at all times
  • Comply with all regulatory obligations and internal governance to help ensure ethical behaviour, working to deliver good customer outcomes and avoiding foreseeable harm in line with the Bank’s practice of putting customers at the heart of what we do
  • Any other work that may be required from time to time
