Job description
Overview

Abbey View have been supplying quality fresh salads to the UK market for more than 50 years. Working closely with an established network of growers both at home and abroad, we deliver quality products to major retailers, catering companies and the UK wholesale markets throughout the year.

Role

UK based, full-time forklift operative with previous experience essential. You will need a current UK counterbalance Forklift licence. You will be required to work Monday to Friday with some overtime and some Saturdays during the busy seasonal months.

Duties
  • Ensure forklift check sheet completed daily.
  • Receiving and processing of Glasshouse products from suppliers, including wrapping and safe transit of product, ensuring label adherence, and final inventory checks.
  • Checking for damaged or missing items.
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment within the service area.
  • Report any discrepancies both on goods in and despatch.
  • Communicate with management team and co-colleagues alike.
  • Operate warehouse equipment including forklift trucks in a safe manner as per training.
  • Follow dock safety procedures when loading and unloading containers.
  • Complete daily checks on tipping machine, check sensors and report any faults.
  • Ensure tipping machine is loaded and unloaded in a timely manner to ensure continuous throughput.
  • Ensure fruit colours are not accidentally mixed.
  • Empty green tipper bins daily.
  • Assist block managers with any forklift duties as requested.
Personal requirements
  • Current up-to-date UK counterbalance Forklift licence.
  • Proven experience as a warehouse worker.
  • Proficiency in literacy and mathematics.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, reliable and flexible.
  • Able to plan, organise and co-ordinate multiple tasks.
  • Able to work on own initiative and in isolation.
  • Due to location and early starts, someone who lives local with their own transport.
