Job description
Overview

Counsellor for Students – Permanent, part-time, 27.5 hours across 4 days a week, term‑time only.

Working face‑to‑face on site, Tuesday – Friday, starting week of 13 April 2026.

Salary: £24,651 p.a. pro rata (FTE £38,897).

Responsibilities
  • Provide confidential and professional counselling to students during term‑time only, following the short‑term 8‑session model.
  • Manage a busy, occasionally complex caseload with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Cooperate with a core team of two part‑time student counsellors and coordinate trainee counsellors on placement within the service.
  • Utilise designated counselling spaces and rooms within the college.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Appropriately qualified, insured and experienced with accreditation or imminent accreditation from a recognised professional body, as per the person specification.
  • Relevant experience working with young people and demonstrating competence in this area.
  • Experience supervising trainee counsellors.
  • Strong communication, empathy and organisational skills.
