Overview

Manufacturing group based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, is seeking to appoint a Cost Accountant to support its ongoing period of rapid growth and expansion. This is a newly created position with the key purpose of supporting the operational and production teams in understanding the costings and overheads for their individual departments.

What will the Cost Accountant role involve?

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the key responsibilities of Cost Accountant will include:

  • Supporting the production of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Preparation of weekly KPI s including reporting and explaining any variances.
  • Liaising with key non-finance stakeholders to prepare annual business plans.
  • Financial management of any additional investment and CAPEX proposals.
  • Ongoing management of costs including driving through efficiencies where feasible.
  • Undertaking any ad hoc project work as and when required particularly concerning improvements to existing processes and inventory control.
Suitable Candidate for the Cost Accountant vacancy:
  • Applicants for the Cost Accountant vacancy will have previous experience of working within the manufacturing sector and in particular strong exposure to costing and inventory control.
  • A demonstrable track record of working as part of a senior management team and supporting commercial and strategic decision making will be essential.
