Technical Controls Engineer – Grid Code & Power Systems

West Midlands – £45,000 to £60,000 + bonus + car option

Job Highlights
  • Hands‑on experience programming and commissioning power or engine control systems via laptop
  • Experience with UK Grid Code requirements on non‑domestic power systems
  • Familiarity with controls such as ComAp, DEIF, Deep Sea or similar platforms
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Power Engineering, or demonstrable technical equivalence
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work closely with customers and internal teams
Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, program and commission power and control systems to meet UK Grid Code requirements
  • Provide advanced technical support to customers, integrators and internal sales and engineering teams
  • Support grid‑connected technologies including BESS, inverter‑based systems and power control schemes
  • Diagnose and resolve complex control, communication and connectivity issues using laptop‑based tools
  • Assist with system testing, validation and documentationFeed technical insights back into engineering and product teams to support continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Power Engineering or closely related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Proven exposure to UK Grid Code compliance, grid connectivity or grid‑parallel systems such as BESS, utility‑scale PV, inverters or grid schemes
  • Confidence connecting laptops to live systems for diagnostics, configuration and fault finding
  • Clear technical communication skills, able to support customers, integrators and internal teams
  • Full UK driving licence with flexibility for UK travel and occasional international support
