A leading recruitment service provider in Dartford is seeking a Control Room Operator to maintain critical operations on the M25 network. This role involves managing live incidents, deploying teams, and maintaining logs in a high-pressure environment. Ideal candidates possess strong communication skills and attention to detail. The position requires flexibility for 12-hour shifts and includes mandatory training. Successful applicants will contribute to the safety of the public and facilitate efficient operations.
Location : Dartford (Occasional travel to South Mimms required for power outages and 2 weeks initial training)
Contract length : 7-8 months
Shift Pattern : 4 days on, 4 days off (12-hour shifts starting at 6 am / 6 pm)
Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently seeking a a highly vigilant and detail-oriented Control Room Operator to join the team based in Dartford. You will be an integral part of the Connect Plus contract, maintaining critical operations on the M25 and surrounding National Highways network (Area 5).
This role operates within a high-pressure, fast-paced environment where accurate and swift decision-making is paramount to ensuring the safety of the public and our field teams. You will work within a control room alongside National Highways client operators.
Respond to and manage live incidents across the M25 network, including broken-down vehicles and Road Traffic Collisions (RTCs).
Deploy Incident Support Units and other relevant teams (e.g., for barriers, carriageway defects, spillages, lighting) rapidly to mitigate damage to assets and meet strict KPI response times (e.g., arrival within 20 minutes).
Maintain accurate, succinct and comprehensive live action logs of all disruptions, instructions and outbound actions for management review and regulatory compliance.
Monitor network infrastructure, including tunnels and bridges, escalating issues to tunnel engineers or onsite mechanics as necessary.
Manage and log cone down and up times for planned roadworks on the network.
Participate in the winter decision-making process, assisting in the determination and deployment of grit runs (green, amber, or red priority areas).
Utilise camera systems for constant network surveillance and incident verification.
