Overview

Contract Manager - Contract Position

A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Contract Manager / Claims Manager on a contract basis to support complex projects and safeguard the company's commercial interests. The role focuses on Extension of Time (EOT) claims, contract change management, and general contract administration.

Reporting to senior management and working closely with project managers, planners, legal teams, and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will ensure that contractual changes and claims are managed proactively, risks are mitigated, and commercial outcomes are optimised.

Key Responsibilities
  • Extension of Time (EOT) Management
  • Assess, prepare, and administer EOT claims in line with contract terms and governing law.
  • Analyse delay events, including employer-caused delays, variations, force majeure, and concurrent delays.
  • Collaborate with planning/scheduling teams to review delay analyses and critical path impacts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate issuance of EOT notices and submissions.
  • Negotiate EOT entitlements with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Contract Change & Variations Management
  • Manage contractual processes for variations, change orders, and scope amendments.
  • Evaluate time and cost impacts arising from design changes, instructions, and unforeseen conditions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records to support entitlement and approvals.
  • Support negotiation and agreement of variations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure formal incorporation of changes into contract documentation.
  • General Contract Administration
  • Draft, review, and administer contracts, subcontracts, and amendments.
  • Advise project teams on contractual rights, obligations, and risk exposure.
  • Maintain contract registers, tracking notices, approvals, milestones, and entitlements.
  • Support dispute avoidance and resolution, including claims preparation and defence.
  • Assist with audits, project close-out, and final accounts.
Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in contract management, with strong focus on EOTs and change management.
  • Experience administering contracts such as FIDIC, NEC, JCT, or bespoke agreements.
  • Solid understanding of delay analysis principles and contractual time entitlements.
  • Strong commercial awareness, risk management, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Desirable:

  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, energy, or engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6).
  • Experience supporting claims, disputes, or adjudication processes.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., RICS, CIArb, NCMA) advantageous.
