Qualifications

Job Title: Control of Work Supervisor

Location: Northwich, North West

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum

Job Overview

As a Control of Work Supervisor, you will own and administer the Safe System of Work process for our clients site, ensuring all activities are carried out safely and in compliance with regulations. You’ll manage the Permit to Work process, design and implement isolations, and coordinate closely with the Control Room and maintenance teams to guarantee safe execution of tasks. This role is critical to maintaining safety standards and operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer the Safe System of Work process and issue permits to work.
  • Prepare documentation for isolations (LOTO) and apply mechanical isolations.
  • Control supporting documents such as Confined Space Entry Certificates, Hot Work Assessments, and Radiation Certificates.
  • Manage safety-critical valve keys and validate reinstatement of valve positions.
  • Conduct return-to-service checks following maintenance activities.
  • Audit work to ensure compliance with safety controls and investigate safety issues.
  • Plan and execute complex isolations, gas venting, and nitrogen purging operations.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to prepare plant for maintenance.
  • Carry out gas testing prior to issuing permits and oversee nitrogen/air purging.
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach peers and new employees on safe systems of work and operational processes.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum 5 years experience in plant operations, including permit issuing and process isolation (preferably in oil & gas, COMAH, power generation, chemicals, or heavy industry).
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including COMAH and SIOPE (HSG253).
  • BTEC ONC/HNC in a technical or engineering subject (preferred).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Control Room Operations or Process Technology.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred).
  • IOSH Managing/Working Safely.
  • Formal SIOPE training desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence.
