Job description

We are seeking experienced mid and senior level Content Designers to join our team.

As a Content Designer, you will be instrumental in creating clear, user-centered content for our public sector clients, with opportunities to work across government and private sectors. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure content is accessible, understandable, and aligns with GDS standards. Your work will span various projects within the UK Government, requiring agility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers the chance to impact millions by shaping meaningful services while growing your expertise through diverse challenges and a vibrant professional community.

The work environment will be flexible, involving a mix of office, client sites, and remote work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. Candidates must be based in the UK with existing permission to work, as sponsorship is not provided. Pre-employment checks including identity, immigration status, employment history, and criminal record will be conducted.

Your Role

Design and deliver clear, accessible, and user-centered content across digital and offline channels, using evidence-based approaches to meet user needs and GDS standards. Collaborate with researchers, service designers, and interaction designers to integrate content seamlessly into the user experience. Use insights to inform decisions, navigate complex policy or technical content, and produce simple, effective content.

Contribute to the wider design community through mentoring, sharing best practices, and shaping the future of content design. Thrive in an agile environment, working across organizational and technical boundaries to deliver impactful services.

Your Skills and Experience
  • Experience in complex, user-centered design projects from concept to implementation.
  • Experience designing content for government or public services.
  • Strong knowledge of GOV.UK standards.
  • Ability to develop user-focused, clear, and concise content for digital and offline channels.
  • Experience working with user researchers and other design disciplines.
  • Ability to use data insights to inform content decisions.
  • Experience creating accessible and inclusive services.
  • Participation in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and iterative feedback.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills for requirements gathering and presenting solutions.
  • Development of content strategies aligned with project goals.
  • Ensuring content accuracy, currency, and adherence to GDS standards.

Desirable skills include leading design sessions, prototyping, understanding project context, and experience in other sectors or consultancy roles.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be eligible for SC clearance, which requires continuous UK residence for the past five years and other criteria.
