Qualifications

  • Experience with fault-finding, new builds, quality control, and documentation of processes.
  • Ability to work from drawings, work instructions, and produce required documentation.

Role Overview

As an Electrical Engineer you will develop and implement the systems that power and control our maritime platforms, supporting teams of craft technicians. Your work will be critical to ensuring the quality and performance of our products.

Responsibilities
  • Design, assemble, and fit electrical components and systems according to specifications.
  • Use hand tools and fault‑finding equipment on high‑voltage, low‑voltage and CAN‑based systems.
  • Assist in sourcing and selecting components for build and manufacture of electrical and control systems.
  • Conduct quality control and set working parameters for vessel electrical systems.
  • Follow work instructions and project timelines, using tablet‑based work management systems for documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain exacting standards of workmanship, safety, quality, and industry standards.
  • Propose and implement innovations in system design, installation techniques, and build processes.
  • Maintain workshop cleanliness and organisation, demonstrating pride in the environment.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Deep understanding of DC power systems, PLC and CAN control architecture.
  • Experience with fault‑finding, new builds, quality control, and documentation of processes.
  • Proficient use of hand tools and ability to build, fit, and fault‑find complex systems to high standard.
  • Ability to work from drawings, work instructions, and produce required documentation.
  • Computer literacy, basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
Desirable
  • City & Guilds, HNC or HND in Electrical, Electronic or Marine Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience fault‑finding of mechanical/hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with Auto‑CAD, Inventor, or other 3D software.
Working Conditions

The role is based in Portsmouth, with travel to Portland for trials. The candidate may work in manufacturing environment, at sea during trials, and must meet security requirements: existing right to live and work in UK, BPSS, and possibly further security checks.
