South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust are looking for skilled and motivated Consultant Radiologists to join the Radiology Department.
The Department of Radiology is a large, busy department hosted across two main acute sites with services at multiple peripheral sites in the community. It features a full range of modern, recently acquired imaging equipment, including 5 static CT scanners and 3 static MRI scanners across both acute sites. A new large purpose‑built Diagnostic Imaging Centre at South Tyneside will house 2 CT scanners, 2 MRI scanners and a PET CT scanner. The department also offers an IR suite at Sunderland Royal Hospital with additional interventional rooms at South Tyneside.
Applications are encouraged and welcomed from doctors who have, or are expected to receive, a CCST in Radiology. We welcome applications from General Radiologists and those with specialist interests, and the post‑holder will be supported to develop and consolidate any areas of particular interest.
The successful candidate will hold continuous responsibility for any patient under their care, ensuring high quality, safe patient care and experience.
The post‑holder is expected to work within multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with national imaging and reporting quality and performance metrics, to diagnose and treat patients efficiently.
The post‑holder will attend and contribute to the monthly Directorate/Clinical Governance meetings and the monthly REALM meeting, ensuring effective clinical governance across the Directorate.
Consultants undertaking clinical activities must participate in high‑quality clinical audit and support their clinical teams in carrying out local, regional and national audit activity.
In conjunction with the Clinical Director, the Directorate Manager and other Consultants, the post‑holder will coordinate and supervise the provision of a high quality service.
The post‑holder will be expected to work at weekends and bank holidays on a pro‑rated basis, contributing to the on‑call rota.
