Job summary

This is a replacement post which has become vacant as the previous Consultant Psychiatrist has retired.

The post is based within the Adult Learning Disability Community Team based in North Moor House-Northallerton and covers Hambleton & Richmondshire District plus Botton Village (A large Camphill Village Trust community in The North York Moors). Specifically, this service is commissioned by the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.

Referrals are received in each locality; each team operates a local duty system and triages their own referrals providing advice and support to referrers. We work with a range of system partners including colleagues from Primary Care, Local Authority, and various Voluntary Sector partners.

Main duties of the job

The postholder's cases will also have a keyworker from the team, usually a community nurse. The team is highly regarded by local statutory and third sector partners with a good history of collaborative working. Services are provided in the Hambleton, Richmondshire, and Botton Village areas, serving a population of approximately 150,000. The Consultant holds clinics at North Moor House and conducts home visits as needed. There is a good relationship with local mental health, CYPS & Older Person services, which also have offices based at North Moor House. There is a close working relationship with North Yorkshire Social Services, with regular meetings. Liaison meetings are also held with the Acute Liaison Team for South Tees Hospitals and with local GP practices on a rolling basis.

This is a community-based post. Patients requiring inpatient treatment where appropriate are admitted under Greenlight arrangements to Adult Mental Health wards. There is also access to Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment beds at Bankfields Court, Middlesbrough, which is part of TEWV services. RC responsibilities are managed by the inpatient Consultants.
