Job description
Job summary

This role is designed to provide strategic and clinical leadership for the continued development and delivery of ABUHB's adult psychology in secondary care for individuals presenting with moderate to severe levels of psychological distress and associated difficulties in functioning. This will include ensuring engagement of all key stakeholders (including and especially those with lived experience) and ensuring that appropriate governance structures are in place to enable the safe and effective implementation of highly specialist psychological interventions (including assessment and consultation) and waiting list initiatives across ABUHB.

Psychological therapies are embedded within secondary care services and, as such, there is plentiful opportunity to contribute towards the transformation of adult mental health services more broadly. This will require the capacity to understand complex systems and effective means of implementing and monitoring strategic change.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide expert leadership and strategy guidance for the development and implementation of psychological interventions in secondary care across ABUHB.
  • Be responsible for developing monitoring systems to track referrals, attendance rates, clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and monitoring of any possible iatrogenic harm.
  • Ensure that all interventions are evidence informed and consistent with latest research and practice as outlined in the Evidence Tables of Matrics Cymru.
  • Be responsible for providing the strategic leadership necessary to ensure continued development towards Welsh Government targets for waiting times for Psychological Therapies.
  • Advise the Head of Adult Psychology, the Waiting List Programme Board, MH&LD Senior Management Team and Corporate Performance as required upon matters relating to the waiting time performance across ABHB.
  • Develop and maintain an infrastructure and systems in order to capture key metrics required for national reporting in accordance with the national service specification.
  • Create a culture which empowers clinicians to pursue professional development and provide high quality practice across the service.
