South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS FoundationTrust is looking to recruit a motivated and passionate consultantpaediatrician. The post is a substantive post and less than full timeapplications would also be welcomed.
The community paediatric departmentprovides population-based services across South Tyneside and Sunderland andwork very closely with our multidisciplinary teams, special schools and healthcentres helping to bring services to the community as well as hospital basedservices. Applicants will be expected to have, or to obtain within 6 months ofinterview, a CCT in Paediatrics.
The department has a strong commitment to service development and teaching and applicants with shared enthusiasm for these areas are encouraged. Our team has a broad range of expertise.

Ourcommunity child health and disability teams run a wide range of comprehensiveservices including child development, looked after children and vulnerablechildren, adoption and fostering, safeguarding. It is therefore likely that thesuccessful applicant could have a variety of developed or developing skill setsand find a fulfilling role within our department. This post will have akey focus on the cared for child and onNeurodisability.
Thepost holder would contribute to acute child protection rota and there areopportunities to participate in the acute general paediatric rota if this wasan area of interest. The post holder will take a lead role to be agreed uponappointment, depending on interests and expertise.

The postholder will join the existing team ofcommunity child health and neurodisability paediatric consultants as well asthe wider community paediatric team including specialist nurses, Cared forHealth Team, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupationaltherapists.
This is a replacement fourth community consultantpost. The department also has three consultants in paediatric neurodisabilityand 3 specialty Doctors /senior clinical fellows, allowing a spread of caseloadaccording to special interests and expertise. Area of interest to support the needs of the directorate.
The post holder is expectedto possess Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Healthand to be on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of taking up the post.
A satisfactory job plan andannual appraisal is essential. The post holder will be expected to develop theservice in keeping with local, regional and national guidance. Attendance atmandatory training such as fire safety is expected.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
