Overview

A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. The post is based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital site with provision of out-reach clinics. The appointee will help ensure the continued delivery of high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients within the Trust and community. Enthusiastic candidates with experience in general obstetrics and a gynaecologist with a special interest in gynae-oncology are welcomed to join the existing team of consultants and complement the service in general gynaecology and obstetrics.

A range of general and specialist obstetrics and gynaecological services are offered, led by the consultants and supported by doctors, nurses, and midwives. These include urogynaecology, gynae-oncology, ambulatory (out-patient) gynaecology, early pregnancy assessment, colposcopy, high-risk obstetrics and intrapartum care.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to ongoing service improvement programmes, Maternity Culture Transformation, and elective restoration pathway by implementing evidence-based new ways of working where necessary.
  • Provide dedicated emergency cover for Delivery Suite (labour ward) and emergency gynaecology during the daytime; participate in the on-call rota overnight and at weekends (currently 1:10, subject to change).
  • Participate in on-call sessions on the Labour Ward to help achieve the 60 hours of consultant presence recommended by the RCOG.
  • Deputise for absent colleagues as per policy when required.
  • Participate in day-to-day supervision, training, and assessment of junior medical and other staff.
  • Work with shared office space and receive secretarial support as part of the team.
  • Be involved in the management of inpatients and outpatients at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn, and community antenatal hubs and outpatients at North Cambridgeshire Hospital, Wisbech.
